Scheduled Citizen Science Trainings for ‘Seasonal Signs’

The Signs of the Seasons citizen science project, a statewide initiative aimed at understanding Maine’s changing climate through the identification and documentation of cyclical and seasonal changes in more than 20 indicator species, is set to launch next week with a series of workshops. These species include milkweed, butterflies, and loons.

The first training session will take place in Brunswick on April 4, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Stimpson’s Point. In Falmouth, training will begin on April 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center. Those unable to attend in person can also participate in a 3-part webinar that will be available.

The workshops are free of charge but mandatory registration is necessary. To learn more about the project and to register, visit extension.umaine.edu/signs-of-the-seasons/training.
