Aker Solutions and GIDARA Energy Collaborate on Transformative Equinor Mongstad Project to Produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel from Waste

Aker Solutions (AKSO) has selected GIDARA Energy’s HTW® (High Temperature Winkler) technology to be part of a feasibility study for the Equinor Mongstad Industrial Transformation (MIT) project. This ambitious initiative aims to transform solid waste and RDF into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), reducing CO2 emissions and combating climate change.

As part of the study, GIDARA Energy will demonstrate their in-house HTW® Gasification unit, which is designed to convert solid waste feedstock into clean syngas. This process involves pre-treating waste through drying and storing, as well as cleaning and treating the raw syngas. The clean syngas generated will then be used to create SAF through either a Fischer-Tropsch process or a methanol/ethanol-to-jet process.

Dr. Norbert Kamp, CEO of GIDARA Energy, expressed excitement at the opportunity to collaborate with Aker Solutions and Equinor on this project. He stated that GIDARA’s mission is to address waste management challenges while reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change through innovative solutions such as their patented HTW® technology.
