Avera Health announces biggest system expansion in history

In recent news, Avera Health in Sioux Falls has announced its largest building project in history. The new project will total 350,000 square feet and cost $245 million. The expansion includes a six-story tower addition to Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center, which will house a centralized space for women’s and children’s acute care services.

Furthermore, a three-story structure will be built on the Avera on Louise Health Campus to provide dedicated digestive health services. The existing space for this type of care will be repurposed to accommodate Avera’s growing orthopedic care services.

Avera President and CEO Jim Dover, along with Avera McKennan Regional President and CEO Dr. Ronald Place, shared the details of this major project during a press conference held at the Avera Prairie Center. During the conference, Dr. Katherine Wang and Jennifer Kirby also provided insights into the project.
