Vanessa, a former competitive swimmer, has faced more challenges in her young life than most. At 23, she survived lymphatic cancer and was later diagnosed with leukemia and stage 3 lung cancer with metastases in the spine and two large tumors in her head. Despite the grim prognosis of a life expectancy of six months to a year, Vanessa remains positive and full of joy, cherishing every moment she has.
Living in a tiny house by a lake with her boyfriend Sebastian, a police officer, Vanessa is determined to make the most of her remaining time. She recently shaved her head due to the effects of chemotherapy and radiation but still radiates happiness and gratitude for life. Although she experiences fatigue and difficulty focusing due to her brain tumor, Vanessa refuses to let her illness dim her spirits.
Vanessa is planning a final trip with Sebastian along the Silk Road from Europe to Japan in a motorhome. They are raising funds for their “Expedition Hope” through GoFundMe, hoping to make their dream a reality. Despite being aware that she may not beat cancer, Vanessa remains optimistic about living longer than expected with the disease.
As Vanessa faces her mortality with courage and grace, she serves as an inspiration to all who hear her story. Her resilience and joy in the face of adversity remind us all to cherish every moment and live life to the fullest.
