Bloomberg News has appointed Mario Parker as the managing editor of economy/government. In his new role, he will oversee coverage of the 2024 election, White House, Congress, and international economics and security. This announcement was made by Washington bureau chief Margaret Collins on Tuesday.
Parker has a wealth of experience in political journalism, having served as the White House and politics editor since January 2023. During this time, he played a key role in preparing and covering the Republican presidential primary as well as President Joe Biden’s re-election bid. Parker has also led Bloomberg’s national politics coverage and was a White House correspondent during the Trump administration. He has been with Bloomberg since September 2006, holding a bachelor’s degree from Benedictine College and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois.
Chris Roush is a seasoned business journalist with experience in academia. He was previously the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University and the Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. Roush has worked for several prestigious publications including Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune, and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
