A traffic accident occurred on the A1 highway near Drežnik, Karlovac at 9:35 a.m., reports the Karlovac Police Department. The police department states that a 55-year-old man driving a passenger car with Ogulin license plates collided with the rear of a police vehicle with Zagreb license plates driven by a 56-year-old man due to inappropriate speed of the vehicle on a slight bend.

The force of impact threw both vehicles into a metal guardrail central belt, after which they bounced back onto the roadway. A 55-year-old man sustained serious injuries while two others, including the 56-year-old driver and a 53-year-old passenger from his vehicle, were slightly injured in the accident.

For causing the traffic accident, the 56-year-old driver will be issued a mandatory misdemeanor order, and a report will be forwarded to the competent state attorney for further investigation and prosecution.
