In the first half, the Bills offense relied on field goals, but they have since managed to find the end zone in the third quarter. With 6:29 left in the third quarter, Josh Allen connected with Khalil Shakir for his third touchdown pass of the day, extending the Bills’ lead to 29-6 against the Jets. Prior to this long touchdown pass, Allen also scored a touchdown on the Bills’ first drive of the second half, connecting with running back Ty Johnson.
In his first game with interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady calling the plays, Allen has completed 19-of-29 passes for 273 yards. On the play that resulted in Shakir’s touchdown, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner attempted to intercept the ball but missed, allowing Shakir to break through for an impressive 81-yard score. This marked the longest play from scrimmage in the NFL season so far.
Following this touchdown and a subsequent punt by Jets on their first possession of third quarter it seems that they are struggling to find their rhythm and offensive prowess needed to make a comeback in this game.
