CAA Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards Announced for November 20th

The CAA has announced its weekly women’s basketball awards for the second week of the 2023-24 season. Chaniya Clark from North Carolina A&T has been named the Player of the Week, while Laine McGurk from Drexel has earned the Rookie of the Week honors.

Chaniya Clark, a redshirt sophomore at North Carolina A&T, played a pivotal role in her team’s 2-0 week, including a win over Wake Forest and another victory over Liberty. She averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game during this period and achieved a double-digit performance in all three games she played. Her impressive play helped North Carolina A&T secure three consecutive wins to start the season.

On the other hand, Laine McGurk from Drexel had an outstanding first week of college basketball. As a freshman, she averaged 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, including double-digit points in three recent games. Her contribution was instrumental in Drexel’s victory over La Salle with a final score of 71-46, which was one of their wins that week.

The previous week’s Player of the Week was Khari Clark from Stony Brook, while Darrionna Howard from Delaware earned Rookie of the Week recognition. This week’s awards went to Chaniya Clark and Laine McGurk, showcasing the incredible talent and depth within the CAA women’s basketball division.
