City of Laredo Commits to Contingency Plan for World Trade Bridge Delays: Short, Middle, and Long-Term Strategies Proposed

The City of Laredo has committed to developing a contingency plan in response to recurring delays near the World Trade Bridge. During a meeting on Monday night, May 6, Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño outlined short, middle, and long-term strategies to address the issue.

Some of the proposed solutions include keeping loaded trucks ready at warehouses, changing truck routes, and improving communication to ensure everyone is aware of any problems at the bridge. Officials from the Customs Broker Port of Entry Advisory Committee explained that these delays result in significant financial losses for the city whenever there are issues with the Mexican processing system.

Rick Laurel, a committee member, expressed concerns about the financial impact of truck delays on customers and users of the bridge facilities. He emphasized the need to find solutions to minimize the frequency of these delays and their associated costs. Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño is scheduled to meet with the Tamaulipas Governor later this week to discuss ways to address the ongoing delays and explore potential solutions.

It is crucial to find effective measures to mitigate the financial impacts of truck delays and ensure smooth operations at the World Trade Bridge. Stay updated on our latest headlines for more information. Copyright 2024 KGNS. All rights reserved.
