Dancing to the Rhythm of Ballet Shoes: London’s National Theatre Brings Beloved Book to Life on Stage

London’s National Theatre to Host World Premiere of Ballet Shoes Adaptation

In the upcoming fall season, the world premiere of a stage adaptation of Noel Streatfeild’s beloved book Ballet Shoes will take place at London’s National Theatre. The festive and family-friendly show, penned by Kendall Feaver, promises to bring the classic story to life on stage.

Directed by Katy Rudd, who previously directed The Ocean at the End of the Lane at the National, this production is sure to delight audiences with its talented creative team. Set design by Frankie Bradshaw, costume design by Samuel Wyer, choreography by Ellen Kane, composition by Asaf Zohar, lighting design by Paule Constable, sound design by Ian Dickinson, and casting by Bryony Jarvis-Taylor have all come together to create an ambitious and thrilling production.

Ballet Shoes follows the journey of three adopted sisters – Pauline, Petrova, and Posy – who live in a crumbling house full of dinosaur bones and fossils. Under the care of their guardians Sylvia, Nana, and some unexpected lodgers, the sisters embark on a quest to discover their identities and pursue their individual passions.

National Theatre Director Rufus Norris expressed his excitement for audiences to experience this classic story in a new and ambitious theatrical production.
