Darin Ruf could not think what a single of his former teammates did in the 1st inning of Thursday’s game in between the Giants and Milwaukee Brewers at American Household Field.
With a single out in the bottom of the 1st, Ruf, who signed with Milwaukee final week, crushed a 92 mph fastball from Giants pitcher Scott Alexander to ideal-center field, only to have a possible residence run robbed by former teammate Mike Yastrzemski.
As Ruf rounded 1st base, he realized that a ball he believed was either a residence run or at least further bases, located its way into the glove of a leaping Yastrzemski. The former Giant could not aid but laugh as he looked out into ideal field.
Yastrzemski is a single of the greater defensive center fielders in MLB and has created a lot of highlight reel catches more than the years. Ruf, who was teammates with Yastrzemski for two-plus seasons from 2020-2022 and briefly once again in 2023, knows precisely what his former outfield counterpart is capable of.

Even so, he nevertheless did not appreciate Yastrzemski robbing him of what would have been his 1st residence run in a Brewers uniform.
