World Central Kitchen calls for independent investigation into Israel’s bombing that resulted in fatalities

The Israel-Hamas war has claimed the lives of over 200 aid workers in just six months, making it the deadliest conflict for humanitarian workers in a single year, according to U.N. Humanitarian Coordinator Jamie McGoldrick. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has acknowledged that innocent people were unintentionally killed in Gaza by Israeli forces and stated that such incidents are unfortunately common in times of war. In response, Israel announced an internal investigation into the killings.

World Central Kitchen (WCK), a food charity, has revealed that multiple strikes targeting their vehicles resulted in a military attack that claimed the lives of their aid workers. WCK has called on the Israeli government to preserve all evidence related to the attack and urged celebrity chef José Andrés to pressure Prime Minister Netanyahu to end the war immediately. Andrés criticized the White House for providing aid to Gaza while also arming Israel.

The international community is increasingly condemning the deaths of aid workers in the Israel-Hamas conflict, with even Israel’s staunchest allies calling for a prompt investigation into the killings. The unprecedented number of humanitarian workers who have lost their lives in this ongoing conflict highlights the urgent need for peace and resolution in the region.
