In Ontario, Canada, DeLaval, a global leader in dairy farming solutions, recently opened a new technical training center. The VMS Solutions Manager, Jason French, discussed the company’s history and innovations. Founded in Sweden over 140 years ago by Gustaf DeLaval who invented the cream separator in 1883, DeLaval has been at the forefront of technological advancements in the dairy industry ever since.
During the 1980s, there was skepticism about the need for automated milking systems as farms traditionally relied on manual labor. However, DeLaval foresaw the shift towards modern farming practices and developed the VMS batch milking system robot patent in 1983. The initial goal of this innovation was to help family farms sustainably manage their operations while allowing farmers to focus on other aspects of farm management. Not only did it increase efficiency but also provided a new lifestyle for farmers.
In this article, we will delve deeper into the VMS batch milking robotic system and its impact on dairy farming operations tomorrow. Stay tuned for more information!
