DuPage County’s Strategic Plan: A Focus on Community Services and Economic Development for a Thriving Future

The DuPage County Board has recently adopted a strategic plan that outlines the goals and aspirations of both the board and the community for the future of the county. This plan, which was passed on Tuesday, emphasizes community services and economic development as key areas of focus.

The Strategic Planning Committee, led by board member Sadia Covert, decided to prioritize these areas in order to promote local businesses, workforce development, and create outreach programs for families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities. According to County Board Chair Deborah Conroy, this plan is crucial in ensuring that DuPage County remains prosperous and thriving for years to come.

While specific language used in the plan has been debated within the board, there are no consequences for not adhering to the priorities set forth. These priorities include community well-being, fiscal responsibility, a thriving economy, a safe community, environmental stewardship, and mobility.

In addition to larger objectives such as reducing landfill presence and expanding bike and pedestrian pathways, smaller projects like the Solid Waste Management Plan and DuPage County Trails Plan are making progress towards more manageable improvements in these areas.
