Election 2023: Losses for Political Heavyweights in 10th Croatian Parliamentary Convocation

In the 10th convocation, many deputies fought for re-election, with a minimum salary of 2,000 euros and other benefits on offer. However, not all were successful in their bid for another term. Among the losers were the Social Democrats, who had been founded just a few months prior to the election after Pećstroka Grbina expelled disobedient members from the SDP. Despite their efforts, voters chose not to give them another chance in parliament.

The Homeland Movement, although the third political force in the country, also failed to gain enough trust from voters to win a mandate in the third constituency. Entertainer Davor Dretar Drele also lost his seat despite winning 4,703 preferential votes. Katarina Peović and Karolina Vidović Kristo, vocal critics of the ruling party, will no longer be seen in parliamentary debates. The Reformists, who had one mandate in the last convocation, will also not have a representative in the Parliament this time.

Bojan Glavašević, a former independent representative who ran on the Rijeka pravde list and won 6.5 percent of preferential votes, also lost his seat. His name is on the list for the European Parliament so he can still continue his political career there. Ermina Lekaj Prljaskaj, who represented Albanian national minority in parliament also said goodbye to her seat after losing election battle
