Health Fair for Lexington Seniors

A senior health fair was held in Lexington, organized by Bonita Taylor with the United Vendors of America. The event aimed to educate local seniors and residents of assisted living homes about health care insurance and other relevant products and services for their age group.

Taylor was inspired to organize this event after attending a similar fair in Frankfort, Kentucky, around 15-20 years ago. She felt that it would be beneficial to bring a similar event to Lexington and share the knowledge she gained from her experience with the local community.

The fair featured informational booths from vendors such as Aetna Medicare Solutions, which provided attendees with information about health insurance. Patrick Lee, a representative with Aetna Medicare Solutions, emphasized the importance of face-to-face interaction in educating seniors about intangible products like insurance.

One of the goals behind the fair was to provide seniors with information about alternative and additional benefits that could complement their Medicare coverage. Taylor highlighted that many seniors are not aware of these extra benefits, so providing this information was a priority for her.

In addition to informational booths, vendors also sold skin care products and jewelry, providing attendees with meaningful gifts for their loved ones.

The success of this event has inspired Taylor to organize another senior health fair in the near future.
