MPS Manufacturing sets sights on business expansion in New Philadelphia

A rubber molding company in New Philadelphia is requesting to rezone a residential property to industrial in order to expand its business. MPS Manufacturing, a company that sells its products in 35 different countries, is looking to create a CNC mold shop in an existing building at 407 Kaserman Ave. NE.

The company has recently acquired a machine shop in Tallmadge and is moving it to New Philadelphia, which will also create one new job. The company hopes to bring in some aerospace work. MPS Manufacturing was started in 2005 and has grown to employ 18 workers, having recently hired another employee. They supply the entire North American GM Truck market with various rubber moldings and have nine robots in its plant.

MPS Manufacturing’s expansion plans have been met with approval from the city’s planning commission, who have already approved the zoning change. An ordinance is currently in the process of receiving its final readings, and a public hearing will be held before the measure gets its third reading. Service Director Ron McAbier praised the company, urging council members to see “what they do over there.”
