Lakeland Community College in Kirtland is hosting several free events this spring to introduce prospective students to careers in health care. With 11 events taking place through April, the college is showcasing various cutting-edge and high-growth programs. The highlight of the season will be the Health Programs Open House on April 4 from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
At this event, attendees can tour Lakeland’s Health Technologies (H) Building and learn from professionals about careers in direct patient care and behind-the-scenes administrative or laboratory work. This event will be held on Lakeland’s campus at 7700 Clocktower Drive in Kirtland. Although registration is recommended, walk-ins are welcome.
In addition to the open house, Lakeland is also offering individual sessions for programs such as health information management/medical coding, histotechnology, medical assisting, occupational therapy assisting, and surgical technology. These sessions provide an opportunity for prospective students to speak directly with faculty to identify their field of interest.
Health program classrooms at Lakeland are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including breathing manikins, a mock operating room, hospital beds, and a life-size ambulance simulator. Regina Prosser, the dean for health technologies at Lakeland, emphasized the outstanding job placement rates for degree and certificate earners in the college’s health programs. With a total of 21 health programs offered at the college, these events provide an excellent opportunity for prospective students to explore their options and discover their passion for healthcare.
