Exploring the Challenges and Opportunities of Artificial Intelligence: El Aleph Festival Returns with a Captivating Program

The ninth edition of El Aleph: Festival of Art and Science, with the theme Challenges of artificial intelligence and other intelligences, is set to take place from May 8 to 19. Juan Ayala, the technical secretary of Planning and Programming of UNAM Culture, stated that this event will provide a space for dialogue, listening, and reflection on the impact of artificial intelligence tools across various disciplines of human knowledge. The festival will feature 255 participants in more than 72 activities and 90 functions, including talks, workshops, plays, music, dance, and cinema, with prominent scientists and international artists enriching the experience of attendees over a period of 10 days.

The festival will showcase visual conceptual art in several venues, including the Colegio de San Ildefonso which will host the major exhibition “Face to Face for Mexico” by Brian Eno. Another venue is the Palace of Autonomy which will house six exhibitions utilizing artificial intelligence tools. The collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Mexico City and the Colegio de San Ildefonso has allowed for the creation of this diverse and captivating program.

Rosa Beltrán highlighted the presentation of Mozart Requiem by Gloria Contreras at UNAM Choreographic Workshop which has not been offered for many years. The festival will also feature a film titled “Dwellers among the waters,” powered by artificial intelligence to question human conditions and realities through visual pieces. Various speakers such as Hannah Price and José Gordon will address the fusion of artificial intelligence technologies with storytelling expertise discussing different perspectives on AI across various fields.

Overall El Aleph: Festival of Art and Science promises to be a dynamic event that delves into challenges presented by AI while also exploring its opportunities in today’s world through thought-provoking sessions that combine science with art.
