BnT’s American Treasures, a family business that had been at Yard Birds for 14 years, faced losses after a break-in occurred over the weekend. The owners, Blake and Cory McDrummond, reported that their trailer was stolen from the mall. The thieves physically unbolted the gate of BnT’s and took it off its hinges, allowing access to the area where the trailer was kept.
The theft occurred on Saturday afternoon when Tana McDrummond, wife of Blake and Cory, was outside cleaning up some items from the mall. She noticed that the gate was open and went inside to check on her husband and brother-in-law. When she entered their retail store, she discovered that their trailer had been taken.
The trailer was used daily by the McDrummonds for various purposes related to their estate and retail store cleaning business. It contained tools, equipment, and other items that were essential to their operations. Without it, they are unable to continue working on their property or clean up any of the items left behind in the mall.
Although Darris McDaniel initiated the giveaway at Yard Birds to clear out the building for potential sale, he did not allow anyone inside due to liability concerns. Instead, items from the mall are being placed outside along the walls of the structure. Some of these items were personal belongings of the McDrummonds that they had not yet removed after the mall’s closure in 2022.
A police report has been filed for the stolen trailer, and a reward is being offered for any information leading to its recovery. Tana McDrummond can be contacted through her Facebook page if anyone has any information about her missing vehicle.
The giveaway at Yard Birds is ongoing with new items being added daily.
The theft has left BnT’s American Treasures struggling financially as they try to recover from this setback. Their loss has also affected other businesses operating within Yard Birds as they rely on them for maintenance services.
As a journalist covering this story I feel compelled to bring attention not only to this specific case but also to highlight how difficult it can be for small businesses like BnT’s American Treasures when faced with such unexpected events like theft or vandalism.
It’s important for property owners and managers in commercial areas take proactive measures towards securing their buildings while still allowing accessibility for customers and vendors alike.
