In recent weeks, tensions have escalated between Israel and Lebanon over the Israeli Army’s attacks on areas in southern Lebanon. These attacks resulted in the death of several people, including two journalists from Al Mayadeen, as well as a 80-year-old Lebanese woman and her granddaughter who were injured in an Israeli attack against Kfar Kila in the Marjayun district.

The Al Manar television network reported that several minors, all of them grandchildren of the deceased, were present at the house during the anti-tank missile attack that killed the journalists. Husein Akel, who was acting as a guide for the journalists, also died in the attack.

The Israeli Army has stated that they identified and attacked three anti-tank squadrons in the Lebanese border area as well as terrorist targets of Hezbollah. The attacks were carried out in response to launches from Lebanon against Israeli Army positions in northern Israel, which have been repeated recently.

Hezbollah has denied any involvement in these attacks and claims that its actions are part of “support for the brave and honorable resistance of the Palestinian people of Gaza Strip.” The group has also stated that its objective was to “settle” a military post near Metula where enemy soldiers were stationed.
