The world’s first Dragon Ball Z theme park is being constructed in Saudi Arabia

In 2019, visitors to the Gamescom gaming trade fair in Cologne, Germany had the chance to try out the latest version of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. The game was a huge hit with fans and gamers alike, who were eager to experience its exciting new features.

Saudi Arabia has recently announced plans to build the first-ever Dragon Ball Z theme park as part of its Qiddiya project. The 5.3 million square foot entertainment venue will feature seven different areas inspired by the original Japanese anime television series, along with over 30 themed rides, hotels, and restaurants. The park is set to have five “world first” rides, including a 230-foot-high roller coaster named Shenron after the series’ magical dragon.

The Saudi Public Investment Fund, a major shareholder in Nintendo, has also shown interest in video games and anime. Collaborations between Japan-based Toei Animation and MiSK, a foundation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, have resulted in new anime movies. These developments highlight Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in these industries and its efforts to diversify its economy away from oil dependence.

Qiddiya aims to become a major tourist destination with over 400 specific attractions including golf courses, theme parks, and hotels. With plans to host millions of visitors annually
