From Cotton Factory to Community: Wu Bing’s Journey from Wealthy Businessman to Devoted Philanthropist

Wu Bing was a wealthy businessman who owned a successful cotton factory in Nantong, China. However, his personal life was in shambles, leading him to seek solace in a Buddhist temple in the city. After his divorce, he made the decision to become a monk and sold his factory, embracing a new life in a remote temple in Fujian province.

However, the peace he sought in the temple was quickly disrupted when he encountered pregnant women facing difficult situations. Many of these women were abandoned by their partners and lacked financial support. Despite initially being unprepared for this reality, Wu decided to help these women by providing shelter, prenatal care, and support throughout their pregnancies. The temple soon became a refuge for many pregnant women and newborns.

Word spread about Wu’s shelter, and more women began to seek his help. The temple’s abbot asked him to find a new location for his shelter, which led Wu to relocate to a villa in Zhejiang province. There he established the Protective Dwelling with the help of social media and donations. Through his online presence and charitable efforts, Wu has helped over 600 single women facing pregnancy without support. His story has gained recognition in the Chinese media, inspiring others to volunteer and offer assistance. Despite the challenges he has faced, Wu remains dedicated to helping those in need and providing a safe haven for vulnerable pregnant women.
