Shohei Ohtani, a 29-year-old Japanese baseball sensation, was recently observed watching a spring training game between the Los Angeles Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The rising star began his professional career with Japan’s Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in 2013 before making the move to Major League Baseball in 2018 to join the Los Angeles Angels.

Ohtani has become renowned for his skills both as a pitcher and designated hitter, earning him accolades such as being voted as the American League’s Most Valuable Player in 2021. In that year, he achieved remarkable feats like hitting 45 home runs, stealing 25 bases, and recording five triples in a single season, setting records along the way. He made history again in 2023 by becoming the first player to unanimously win the American League MVP award twice.

Off the field, Ohtani is also quite successful with lucrative endorsement deals with companies such as Boss, Fanatics, and Seiko Watch. These deals generate a substantial sum of at least $35 million annually according to Forbes. However, recently Ohtani underwent elbow surgery and is expected to refrain from pitching until 2025 as he focuses on recovery and returning to peak performance on the baseball field.
