FWC: Black Bear Encounter Forces Closure of More than a Dozen Rides at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

Far more than a dozen rides and attractions at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, had been closed on Monday due to the presence of a black bear spotted in a tree at the theme park. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirmed the sighting and stated that employees had been operating on capturing and relocating the bear. Although ride closures are not uncommon, possessing so numerous attractions closed simultaneously shortly soon after the park opened for the day is uncommon. The rides listed as temporarily closed on the My Disney Encounter app contain well-known attractions such as Significant Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean. A complete list of the closed attractions as of 11 a.m. involves Below The Sea – Journey of The Small Mermaid, Walt Disney Planet Railroad – Fantasyland, Walt Disney Planet Railroad – Frontierland, Walt Disney Planet Railroad – Major Street, U.S.A., Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Area, Significant Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Household Treehouse, Nation Bear Jamboree, Liberty Square Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island. The Magic Kingdom’s operating hours are from 9 a.m. to ten p.m., according to Disney’s web page. Additional updates on the predicament are awaited.
