Ho Chi Minh City Unveils New Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0 Driving Sustainable Development

The Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (C4IR) is a new force driving sustainable development, as announced by Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, at a conference on April 25. C4IR is part of a collaboration agreement signed by Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Phan Van Mai with leaders of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on January 16.

Ho Chi Minh City and WEF will work together to establish C4IR in the High-Tech Park, making it the second center in Southeast Asia after Malaysia and the 19th in the world. The center will leverage the knowledge and experience of global C4IR network members to propose solutions and policies that align with national and international technology trends.

C4IR will operate under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, with a team consisting of representatives from government, businesses, schools, and leading businesses implementing innovation initiatives. The operations division will pilot new technology products and engage with stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, while the support sector will build communities, provide financial support, and facilitate knowledge sharing activities.

The operating model project for C4IR is currently in its final stages of completion, defining its development roadmap and organizational structure. It is expected to be submitted to Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee by May’s end for approval before launching during September at the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum event. With its goal of connecting with global Industrial Revolution 4.0 Centers and applying 4.0 Industrial Revolution achievements to drive innovation and create new industries for Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam
