The U.S. Men’s National Team scored a goal to regain the lead against Slovakia in the IIHF World Championship match. Brady Tkachuk then extended the lead to 4-2 with a goal assisted by Hughes and Zegras in the third period, followed by Smith’s goal at 9:40, which was helped by Boldy and Gaudreau. Hayes later scored an empty-net goal to secure a 6-2 victory for Team USA, while goaltenders Alex Lyon and Trey Augustine made 17 saves on 19 shots and four saves on eight shots in the first two periods, respectively.
The U.S. team had a 1-2 power play advantage over Slovakia during the game, outshooting their opponents by 31 shots to 23 shots. The match was played at Ostrava Arena in Czechia and will continue with Team USA facing Sweden in their next game of the tournament.
