The Ferri family announced that their IGA Supermarket in Murrysville, Pennsylvania will be closing its doors after 70 years in business. Despite their commitment to quality products and personalized service, the supermarket has struggled with tight profit margins and intense competition. One major setback was the unexpected departure of Mainline Pharmacy as a tenant earlier this year, which led to a sales decrease of over 20%.
The supermarket is now offering a 10% discount on all items except for tobacco and milk products. The store will remain open until the end of May, and the Ferri family expressed gratitude for the memories created over the years while promising to continue contributing to the community in various ways even after the store closes.
