Koppert’s release system for ‘Mirica’, its biological solution, has won the first prize in the international Fruit Logistica Innovation Award Technology. The award was presented in Berlin on 9 February. The Mirical generalist pest predator is a product that has received recognition for its innovative packaging made of corrugated cardboard. This new packaging allows beneficial bugs to hide and better distribute themselves during transportation, protecting them from damage and ensuring they arrive at their destination in optimal condition.
The use of corrugated cardboard also reduces clumping while improving bug distribution in the crop, which benefits performance and whitefly control. Koppert claims that this packaging is fully compostable, labor-saving, easy to locate and more accurately dosable. The product was launched last year in France.
In an interview with Tim Bossinga (product manager of Koppert), he stated that innovation is at the core of Koppert’s DNA and is a result of continuous product development. “We are always looking for ways to improve our products and make them more effective,” said Bossinga. “This innovation is just one example of our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers.”
