Leveraging Diagnostic Network Optimization: A Key to Stronger Global Health Systems and Universal Health Coverage

At the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva, experts will gather to address the most pressing health challenges. One year after a landmark resolution on strengthening diagnostics, access to diagnostic tests remains a major issue, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Fragmented supply chains and market barriers are among the factors that make it difficult for people to get accurate and timely diagnoses.

To combat these challenges, diagnostic network optimization (DNO) is used by many countries to identify gaps, limitations, and inefficiencies in healthcare networks and delivery. However, much of the information collected during these processes is not fully utilized, which hinders progress. That’s why Foreign Policy and Cepheid are hosting an event on May 30th to discuss ways to leverage DNO insights for better pathogen detection, stronger global health systems, universal health coverage, and the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
