Local Athletes Shine in NCAA Wrestling, College Softball and High School Soccer: Dundee Graduates and Monroe, Flat Rock and Bedford Players Excel

Swiderski and Davis shine at NCAA Championships

Over the weekend, Dundee graduates Casey Swiderski and Braeden Davis both had standout performances at the NCAA Wrestling Championships. Swiderski achieved All-American status for Iowa State by placing seventh in the 149-pound weight class, while Davis helped Penn State secure the national championship title.

In college softball action, Monroe graduate Ellie Sieler and her Michigan team swept Whiteford graduate Ally VanBrandt and Indiana in a three-game series. Sieler had a strong performance at the plate, while VanBrandt contributed to Indiana’s offense.

On the high school soccer front, Flat Rock secured a 1-0 victory over Wyandotte Roosevelt with Isabella Thomas scoring the lone goal off an assist from Megan Woelkers and goalkeeper Keola Botts recording a shutout.

In freshman baseball action, Bedford staged a comeback to defeat Toledo St. John 12-4 in their season opener. Jason Bryant and Brady Boisselle had two hits each, while pitchers Landon Sparks and Evan Bullard delivered solid performances on the mound.
