The Chicago Cubs have produced adjustments to their roster due to injuries. Infielder Nick Madrigal has been placed on the ten-day injured list with a proper hamstring strain, retroactive to September 17. This comes immediately after Madrigal left the game on Saturday with the exact same injury. Manager David Ross revealed that Madrigal’s situation was worse than initially anticipated. There is at present no definite timeline for his return. In Madrigal’s absence, infielder Jared Young has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa.
At the moment, the Cubs are facing a challenging stretch. They have lost 5 consecutive games and are in a virtual tie with the Cincinnati Reds for the third NL wild-card spot. With only 12 games left in the season, the Cubs are feeling the stress to turn points about and safe a playoff spot.
Jared Young, a 28-year-old infielder, had a productive season with Iowa, batting .310 with 21 property runs and 72 RBIs in 90 games. On the other hand, his preceding stint with the Cubs earlier this season was not as thriving, as he batted only .171 with 1 property run and 5 RBIs in 13 games.
Sadly, the Cubs have been plagued by injuries to crucial players all through the season. Infielder Jeimer Candelario, closer Adbert Alzolay, and proper-handed reliever Michael Fulmer are amongst these at present on the injured list. This has produced it difficult for the group to sustain consistency and carry out at their most effective.
