The community of Maryville, Tennessee is coming together in a powerful way to support the family of Deputy Greg McCowan. Pokey’s and Sports, a business located in downtown Maryville, has taken initiative to help the family by selling tribute shirts for $20 each.
Julie Nelson, who works at Pokey’s and Sports, expressed that everyone wanted to do something to help. “We wanted to give back to the family in any way we could,” she said. “Buying a shirt was something everyone could do.”
All proceeds from the shirt sales will go directly to the McCowan family. The response has been overwhelming, with over 500 shirts made already. The local community has shown tremendous support, with many ordering shirts to show their condolences and support for the family during this difficult time.
John Lindboe, part of the management at Pokey’s and Sports, shared that many of the people affected by the tragedy were known to the community. This personal connection has motivated many to contribute to the cause by purchasing tribute shirts. “It’s important for us to come together as a community and show our support for Deputy McCowan,” he said.
As orders continue to come in, Pokey’s and Sports has committed to printing and selling shirts for as long as there is demand. For those unable to visit the store, online orders and in-store pickups are available for convenience. The outpouring of support from the community is a testament to the impact Deputy McCowan had on the people he served.
