Two James Madison Redshirt Juniors, Davide Materazzi and Demitri Turner, have been named to the College Sports Communicators Division I Men’s Soccer Academic All-District Team. To be eligible for this honor, athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have started in 66% or competed in 90% of all matches.
Materazzi, who is in his first semester of the sport and recreation leadership graduate program at JMU, earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management with a cumulative GPA of 3.579 while at Davis & Elkins. This season, he has started all 19 matches, scored two goals, and helped anchor the team’s defense.
Turner, a quantitative finance major with a 3.762 GPA, has also started all 19 matches this season and scored his first career goal against Coastal Carolina. He has a total of seven points this season.
JMU will travel to Los Angeles to take on No. 25 Loyola Marymount in the round of 16 on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT
