Minnesota Brewers Make Waves at World Beer Cup: Six Local Breweries Take Home Medals

In 2024, six Minnesota brewers were awarded medals at the World Beer Cup in Las Vegas. The competition is the largest and most prestigious beer competition in the world, according to the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild. With over 9,000 entries from 2,000 breweries competing in 110 categories, it is often referred to as the “Olympics of beer.”

The Minnesota winners included two breweries that received bronze medals, two that received silver medals, and two that received gold medals for their beers. Bob Galligan, director of government and industry relations for the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, expressed pride in the state’s brewers for showcasing their world-class beer at the competition.

Bent Paddle Brewing Co. from Duluth won a gold medal for their German-Style Altbier “Little Dussel Do-Ya,” while Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub from Minneapolis won a gold medal for their German-Style Doppelbock or Fisbock “Dopplebock.” Excelsior Brewing Co. from Excelsior won a silver medal for their Fruit Beer “Big Island Citrus Blonde Ale,” while Lupulin Brewing from Big Lake won a silver medal for their Dortmunder/Export of German-Style Oktoberfest “Dortmunder.”

BeerClub Brewing from Mora received a bronze medal for their German-Style Doppelbock or Fisbock “Doppel (doppel) Bock (bock),” and Pryes Brewing Co. from Minneapolis won a bronze medal for their Mixed Culture Brett Beer “Idyll Forest – Soirée.”
