Montana Tech Students Gain Hands-on Experience in Construction Technology with New Housing Projects

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Montana Tech students were hard at work on two housing projects at Highlands College as part of their education in the construction technology program. Two years ago, Tech secured funding to allow the program to begin constructing houses on their campus, providing students with practical experience in a lab setting before they enter the workforce.

According to Rich Miller, a construction technology instructor at the school, “The program ties in everything they learn in the classroom. It’s a full immersion experience.” Students such as Braydon Cetraro were seen reflecting on the roof of a construction trailer as they measured and marked wood, cutting batten strips with a sliding compound miter saw. Meanwhile, students Jack Gibson, Payton Gonser, Brendan Gallagher, and Matthew Larson were busy putting up interior paint in one of the construction housing projects on the same day.
