Butte College is excited to announce the completion of its new 72,276-square-foot science building in Butte Valley. The final beam was placed on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the construction process. The campus community gathered at the construction site to sign the final beam and celebrate this achievement.
Construction of the building began in April 2023, with an expected opening in fall 2025. The new building will feature a planetarium, sustainable facilities, upgraded classrooms, and collaborative study spaces. It will offer classes in various disciplines including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, construction management, nursing, allied health, and general education in the sciences.
The project is funded by Measure J, a $190 million bond measure that was approved by voters in November 2016 as well as the state’s Physical Plant and Instructional Support Block Grant. This state-of-the-art facility will provide students with cutting-edge resources and technology to further their education and research in a wide range of fields.
The addition of the new science building is an exciting development for Butte College and will significantly enhance the educational experience for students in the STEM and healthcare fields. The building will not only provide state-of-the-art facilities for students to learn and conduct research but will also serve as a hub for collaboration and innovation. With its modern amenities and advanced technology, the new science building is poised to become a cornerstone of academic excellence at Butte College for years to come.
