In March, the Bengals signed tight end Mike Gesicki to a one-year contract. The team had a significant vacancy at the position after former tight end Hayden Hurst left for the Panthers as a free agent last year. Despite playing in all 34 regular-season games over the past two seasons with Miami and New England, Gesicki’s production dipped. However, he is optimistic that his numbers will increase in 2024 with the Bengals.
According to quarterback Joe Burrow, Gesicki has been great for the team and has a big catch radius. He is an explosive player that Burrow is excited to work with. Despite having Tanner Hudson, Drew Sample, Erick All, and Tanner McLachlan on their roster at tight end, it sounds like Cincinnati will rely on Hudson and Sample as options for the position this season.
Burrow believes that he has built a good dialogue with both Hudson and Gesicki, and he hopes that this translates to on-field success. In 17 games last season with New England, Gesicki caught 29 passes for 244 yards with two touchdowns. While he had 73 catches for 780 yards with two TDs in 2021, he caught just 32 passes for 362 yards with five touchdowns in 17 games for Miami in
