A new enterprise lobby council has been formed, boasting some of the UK’s biggest corporations as its founding partners.

The Company Council has been launched by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) in a bid to “design and style and drive the future of the British economy”.

Heathrow, BP, IHG Hotels &amp Resorts and Drax are amongst its new members.

It comes as the troubled CBI faces a crunch vote on its future immediately after it was mired in critical sexual allegations.

The CBI has been canvassing opinion from its current membership on a series of reforms, the outcome of which will be revealed at a crucial meeting on Tuesday.

It has received the public backing of 13 corporations – which includes manufacturing giant Siemens and the world’s biggest pc software program firm Microsoft ahead of the vote.

But the new group will be hoping to choose up the assistance of companies which reduce ties with the CBI – which includes household names such as John Lewis and BMW.

The BCC operates to assistance and connect tens of thousands of corporations in the UK and internationally and is identified for placing out a quarterly financial survey.

BCC director basic Shevaun Haviland and president Baroness Martha Lane Fox will join enterprise leaders in London on Monday to talk about the operate of its new council to represent the interests of UK firms.
