New project at Rome Health aims to address growing demand for care in the Mohawk Valley

Since 2019, Rome Health has seen a significant increase in the number of patients seeking services. The hospital’s COO, Ryan Thompson, stated that all services have grown by nearly 30% during this time. In response to this rising need for care, a new project is currently underway at Rome Health.

The $45.7 million project involves constructing a 30,000-square-foot, three-floor addition to the hospital. This addition will replace the aging operating rooms and intensive care units, ensuring that patients receive care up to modern standards. By modernizing the facilities and creating a seamless flow from pre-procedure to post-procedure care, the hospital aims to improve efficiency and expand its capacity for patients.

Funding for the project comes from a combination of public and private sources, including a $26 million New York State Transformation Grant and $3 million in ARPA funds from the City of Rome. With nearly $44 million raised through public funding and private philanthropy, Rome Health is close to reaching its fundraising goal for the capital campaign. The hospital remains committed to providing quality care to the community while continuously improving its facilities and services.
