In 2023, there were reports of Michael Irvin being sent home from the Super Bowl following a complaint from an employee of a Marriott hotel. Despite suing the hotel, Irvin did not take legal action against the NFL. The league reportedly wanted the case resolved before considering bringing him back to work for them.
Despite settling the case, Irvin’s contract with the NFL Network has now come to an end, leading to his departure from the network. This news was confirmed by both Ryan Glasspiegel of The New York Post and Andrew Marchand of The Athletic.com.
Although Irvin will no longer be working at NFLN, he will continue to work for FS1 as well as have previous experience at ESPN. His departure comes as no surprise given the events that unfolded in 2023 and the league’s desire for resolution before bringing him back to work.
