Nigeria’s Economy Struggles: Many Nigerians Resort to Selling Goods from Their Vehicles

The survey conducted found that individuals who have experienced job cuts have resorted to finding alternative ways to generate income. One effective solution they have found is to repurpose their personal vehicles. This transition has allowed them to address multiple issues at once.

By transforming their cars into mobile businesses, Nigerians are able to offset fuel expenses and prevent their vehicles from rusting while they remain idle.

Additionally, the high cost of renting physical shops has made it challenging for aspiring entrepreneurs. As a result, turning personal cars into mobile stores eliminates the need for a physical space, saving on rental costs and offering a more flexible business approach.

The study also discovered that former corporate workers are now using their cars to sell a variety of products like shoes, clothes, and kitchen utensils from the convenience of their vehicles.

Similarly, others have ventured into the ride-hailing industry, using their private vehicles to provide transportation services.

The research concluded that this trend is not only limited to individuals who have lost their jobs, but also to those who previously operated traditional stores and have transitioned to mobile businesses due to skyrocketing rental costs.
