The Denver Broncos drafted former Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, reuniting him with his former teammate and quarterback Bo Nix. Franklin fills a significant need for the Broncos at the receiver position, offering versatility as a valuable secondary option to a top receiver or a potent deep threat for an aerial attack in need of improvement.
The addition of Franklin to the receiving group includes Courtland Sutton, who has been with the Broncos since 2018 and had an impressive season in 2023 with 90 catches, 772 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 13.1 yards per catch. Sutton’s skills complement those of Franklin, making them an excellent duo on the field.
During his time at Oregon catching passes from Nix, Franklin set records by becoming the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns with 25 and tying for the most 100-yard receiving games with 11. In addition to Sutton and Franklin, the Broncos also have veteran receiver Josh Reynolds, who had a solid season with the Detroit Lions in 2023, recording 40 passes for 608 yards and five touchdowns. Lastly, they have Tim Patrick and Brandon Johnson, who contributed over 150 yards each last season when healthy.
When Nix received the draft call from Broncos Coach Sean Payton, he was ecstatic as he wanted to win a Super Bowl. Now that one of his favorite targets ever is joining him in Denver during the Nix era in Denver it’s an NFL Draft dream come true for them both
