The Ohio State women’s basketball team emerged victorious in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship with a 79-55 win over East Carolina. Jacy Sheldon led the way for the Buckeyes, scoring 20 points and helping secure a double-digit advantage throughout the game. Taylor Thierry also contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.
Ohio State got off to a strong start, taking an early lead of 10-0 and maintaining it until the end of the first quarter with a score of 21-11. However, East Carolina’s Synia Johnson scored eight of her 14 points in the second quarter to bring ECU within just three points at halftime. But Ohio State regained its momentum in the second half, scoring 11 of the first 13 points to take a commanding lead of 49-34. They maintained this advantage for the rest of the game.
Rebeka Mikulasikova contributed to Ohio State’s offense with 12 points, while Cotie McMahon and Rikki Harris each had 11 as well. On East Carolina’s side, Synia Johnson scored an impressive 14 points and Amiya Joyner added another 12.
The game was marked by several technical fouls, including an ejection for ECU’s Jade Tillman after a hard foul in the third quarter. Overall, Ohio State’s strong performance secured a convincing victory in the tournament and cemented their position as one of the top teams in college basketball.
