Patriots Sign Tight End Mitchell Wilcox After Impressive Workouts

Last week, the New England Patriots conducted workouts for three tight ends. Out of these candidates, they signed Mitchell Wilcox on Monday. Brycen Hopkins and Sean McKeon were also evaluated during the workouts.

Wilcox is a 27-year-old tight end who previously spent four seasons with the Bengals after joining them as an undrafted free agent. Over the past three seasons, he has played in 17 games and made four starts for the Bengals, securing nine receptions for 56 yards. He was on the field for 230 offensive snaps and 316 special teams snaps during the season.

Despite starting his career on the practice squad and not getting any regular-season appearances in his rookie year, Wilcox has played a total of 48 games with nine starts in the last three seasons. He has accumulated 29 receptions for 211 yards and one touchdown so far in his career. Additionally, he has taken part in seven postseason games, recording two receptions for 29 yards.

Wilcox will now be joining Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper, and La’Michael Pettway in the tight end position on the New England Patriots’ roster.
