Tim Mickelson steps down as Phil’s caddie; Phil announces.

Phil Mickelson announced on Tuesday that his brother, Tim Mickelson, who has been his caddie for nearly eight years, is retiring to spend more time with his family. When Tim initially became Phil’s caddie in 2017, he left his job as the men’s college golf coach at Arizona State to become Jon Rahm’s agent. Under Tim’s guidance, Mickelson secured three PGA Tour wins, including the 2021 PGA Championship. However, since transitioning to LIV Golf two years ago, Mickelson has not seen as much success in the Saudi-backed league. Despite this setback, Mickelson treasures the experiences they have had together and looks forward to creating more memories in the future.

Tim’s departure from the team comes after a period of significant change in his personal life. He has recently started a family with his partner Maranda and has two young sons. As he embarks on this new chapter of his life, Tim expressed gratitude for the special moments he has shared with Phil both on and off the course. The decision was a difficult one for Tim but ultimately led him to prioritize his family and take time for himself.

Although Tim’s replacement has not been revealed yet, Mickelson will continue to compete in upcoming tournaments with a new caddie by his side. The next LIV Golf event is scheduled for next week at Doral, just outside of Miami. It remains to be seen what direction Mickelson will take without Tim by his side but one thing is certain; he will always treasure the memories they have shared together on and off the course.
