The Power, Phil Taylor, has announced that his 2024 season on the World Senior Darts Tour will be his last. The 16-time world champion initially retired from the sport in 2018 but returned to competitive darts after making the final of the PDC World Championship. Taylor stated that it’s time for him to step away from the tour, but he will continue working hard to give fans what they want and go out on top.
During his career, Taylor earned the nickname “the Power” and is a six-time world champion. He expressed his love for performing and the journey he’s had over the past 35 years. Billy Lovell of World Senior Darts Tour praised Taylor as one of the UK’s greatest sportspeople and expressed gratitude for his decision to come out of retirement at the beginning of the project. Lovell also highlighted how much fun they have had with Taylor and anticipated that his final year on tour would be enjoyable.
The World Senior Darts Tour consists of 11 events, including the World Senior Darts Championship at Circus Tavern in February. Taylor aims to go out on a high in 2024, and fans can look forward to watching him compete one last time before he retires from darts for good.
