The Paul Simon Institute at SIU welcomes prominent business executive from Chicago

John W. Rogers Jr., a leading Chicago business executive, will be sharing his insights into his career in business, public service, and philanthropy at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute on April 11. The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the SIU School of Law Auditorium, Room 120, with a reception planned from 4 to 5 p.m. in the law school’s formal lounge. Registration is recommended but not required to attend the lecture.

Rogers is the founder and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, a Black-owned asset management firm that manages nearly $15 billion in assets. Shaw expressed eagerness to hear about Rogers’ successful career and his contributions to the community during their “fireside conversation.” The discussion will focus on Ariel Investments’ pioneering concepts such as active patience, independent thinking, focused expertise, and bold teamwork. Additionally, Rogers will offer suggestions for SIU students preparing for their professional careers.

Originally from Hyde Park, Rogers graduated from Princeton University before founding Ariel Investments in 1983. Attendees can submit questions for Rogers through the registration form or via email to paulsimoninstitute@siu.edu beforehand if they wish to have them answered during the event or ask follow-up questions afterwards.
