Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Marcus Pettersson has been selected to represent Sweden in the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament in May. The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation announced the addition of Pettersson and Seattle Kraken forward Andre Burakovsky on Tuesday. The tournament will take place in Czechia from May 10-26.
At 27 years old, Pettersson has previously competed in international competitions for Sweden, including the IIHF World Championship tournaments in 2019 and 2022. This season, he achieved career highs in goals, assists, points, and average ice time per game while playing all 82 games for the Penguins.
Pettersson’s defensive partner this season, Erik Karlsson, was also named to Sweden’s roster for the tournament. Stay updated on the Penguins throughout the season by following their progress.
