Lions security C.J. Gardner-Johnson is facing the possibility of a premature finish to his season. Following Sunday’s overtime loss to the Seahawks, it is believed that Gardner-Johnson has suffered a torn pec. Additional testing and evaluation will be carried out in the coming days, but Gardner-Johnson’s return to action this year is in doubt.
This news bargains a heavy blow to the Lions defense, as they had brought Gardner-Johnson in in the course of the offseason to strengthen their secondary. Moreover, Gardner-Johnson had generated excitement amongst the team’s fanbase by encouraging them to put on blue ski masks to the game against Seattle. Sadly, the intended on-field outcome did not materialize.
In the opening two weeks of the season, Gardner-Johnson had currently amassed an impressive 13 tackles. Even so, his absence moving forward will leave a substantial void in the Lions’ defense.
